It’s a cardboard 12-sided figure (dodecahedron) whose sides are covered with all the Section 508 regulations. That’s right — you get everything from 1194.21(a) in Subpart B to 1194.41(c) in Subpart D! What a value!
Can someone like me actually get a Magic 508 Ball?
Yes, you can download your Magic_508_Ball right now. It’s that easy. It’s a PDF file, but don’t worry — it’s not one of those ones that you’re expected to be able to read. You’ll want to print it out on 8.5 by 14 inch stiff paper or card stock. Of course, we made it to be just like 508 itself — lots of assembly required, and no instructions.
What plans are there for the Magic 508 Ball?
As you may know, the Section 508 regulations are under review; new regs will be out and in effect by
2011 2012 2013 or so. Everyone expects the new regs to be more detailed, so a new model of the Magic 508 Ball will have to be larger. We are considering the design changes and are looking into shipping options now.
What can I do with my Magic 508 Ball?
Unfortunately, it’s not a solution to all your accessibility concerns. Or any of them — yet. We have plans. But right now you can’t ask it any questions or rotate the sides to solve some sort of puzzle. It’s really pretty free of features. But some people are finding Section 508 frustrating to work on, and people under such stress may feel the need for a physical outlet.
