Smart is as smart does

Tim Woods, an expert on smart homes, stated in a NYTimes article this morning that the “killer app” for bringing market viability to intelligent appliances will be energy management. We respectfully beg to differ; our take is that it will be aging seniors and Boomers, as well as younger people with moderate to severe disabilities, who are resolute about finding products that will let them live independently in their own homes regardless of limitations to their physical or cognitive capabilities.
