In Japan, cigarette vending machines already feature facial recognition capabilities as an age-measurement biometric. We could think of accessibility applications for the technology…if it weren’t ultra-easy to fool by simply holding up a photograph, printed advertisement, or other 2D representations of post-teenagers. So back to the drawing board for now.
