Before flying out of Orange County yesterday, we did our usual juggling act of simultaneously removing our shoes and extracting our laptop from its case while not accidentally whapping the person either behind or in front of us. Footwear is still an issue, but at least several companies are developing X-ray-compatible computer cases, so that people with (and without) dexterity disabilities will have an easier time of it.
On a related subject, could someone please create short-term memory aids for people going through security? While waiting for our flight, we heard announcements asking people to return to the checkpoint and pick up carry-on bags, cell phones, eyeglasses… and their mother. (There are some things we couldn’t make up if we tried.)
