Public Videophone Available in Central Pennsylvania

There is now a public videophone in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.  Sign language users can place video relay calls, connecting them with an interpreter so that they can communicate with hearing, non-signing people.  Great idea.  I know that ’1′ is larger than ’0′, but Pennsylvania is a pretty large state!

One Response to Public Videophone Available in Central Pennsylvania

  1. I wonder if a videophone that my daughter and I use in our homes would be of use to Sign language users? My daughter is waiting for the arrival of her first child (my first grandchild) and I intend to watch her/him grow up, no matter where I am in the world. Our phones are portable… the phone # is in the phone, and it requires a highspeed Internet connection. Contact is over a special voIP connection that is phone to phone (as opposed to computer to computer). The phone costs $99 and the monthly service is about $35 which includes full phone services and unlimited long distance in the US and Canada. Get this… there are NO long distance charges when I call NA, no matter where in the world I plug in my portable video phone.
I’m not sure, of course, but this would seem to be a great technology for Sign language users.
p.s. A “boffin” is an expert who has fun while helping people.
